About the Owner

Shirley M. Steward, RN, BSN, CMRS is the President and owner of Superior Medical Billing Solutions, Inc.

She has over 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She started as a registered nurse and worked in various capacities of nursing for 8 years. Shirley had the opportunity to further her experience in the industry by moving to hospital and primary care pharmaceutical sales.

After 19 years in the pharmaceutical industry Shirley retired from Merck & Co., Inc. when this new opportunity was presented to open Superior Medical Billing Solutions, Inc. With her first hand experience in working with physicians and recognizing billing’s impact on a practice, Shirley is uniquely qualified to provide your practice with the superior billing service you expect.

In addition to her medical background, Shirley is a trained Certified Medical Billing Reimbursement Specialist holding certifications from both the Medical Association of Billers (MAB) and the America Medical Billing Association (AMBA). She is also an active member of these two organizations.

To further her commitment to offering cutting edge resolutions to billing issues Shirley is a member of the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). In addition to participating in these professional organizations, she is affiliated with several local Chambers of Commerce and is an active member of her church and community.
